1979[edit]

The 1979 section merely says both candidates were unsuccessful and lost their deposits. However I wonder if it should also mention the fact that in both seats that Democratic Labour Party candidates stood in (ie Brigg and Scunthorpe and Lincoln (UK Parliament constituency) their vote was greater than the Conservative majority over the official Labour Party candidate and thus it could be argued their intervention resulted in the Conservatives gaining these two seats from Labour, or at the very least made Labour's task in them more difficult. Ivor Crewe certainly raised this point in The Times Guide to the House of Commons 1979 (p.252), so I think it might be worth adding. Dunarc (talk) 20:52, 7 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

I have now added this in with references, as I think it is important, but am happy to discuss further. Dunarc (talk) 22:54, 7 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
