Just a thought[edit]

Because this is so small article and to keep it in context of the subject it might be better to add this on the end of Niumataiwalu’s artcle along with the article on Qoma. Just a thought, I leave it for the author to decide.

Qoma[edit]

No supporting information

I am not sure whether this addition is accurate as it contains verifiable anecdotes, but the rest appears to be personal hearsay.

The write up is questionable for one, because Ratu is not a Lauan honorific title. Titled males at the time of Niumatawau would have been referred to as Roko. Ratu is a Baun derivative and only would entered Lau’s chiefly system towards the end of the 19th century, when intermarriage between the Vuanirewa clan and Bau became more prevalent. Also Jepesa – this is a corruption of the English name James, also unlikely at the time Niumatawalu lived.

Again any reference beyond Niumatawalu is moving into conflicting anecdotes from oral history and borders on myth.

I suggest merging this information into Niumataiwalu and turning this into a redirect. There just doesn’t seem to be enough verifiable information to support Qoma as a real, notable individual. Askari Mark(Talk) 20:37, 4 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
