Tribal loyalties[edit]

I think it is wrong to write that "Arab tribes in Deir ez-Zor" are a coherent belligerent in this conflict. Some tribes have sided against the SDF (e.g., Aqidat confederacy), some have sided with the SDF (Baggara), and the majority have remained neutral. I think it is worth listing the Deiri or Syrian tribes individually as belligerents when they take sides. They are individual actors who do not have any overarching coordinating body to cohere them together.

e.g., Shammar tribe is obviously very pro-SDF and has some people living in Deir ez-Zor and has sent troops to support the SDF operation, etc etc.

I am new to Wikipedia as an editor and don't know how to edit the belligerents section so I can't do it myself, sorry :( :(.

It's worth noting a lot of the info on this is from Twitter though and it's not being reported on any actual websites, but by "in-the-know" journalists who have direct local connections and then just tweet it. I think it's worth citing Twitter where it's a reliable, trusted journalist if it is the primary source (e.g., in the video I just cited) or if it's not published elsewhere yet. I have edited the article to include this information. CatmanBw (talk) 19:38, 2 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Twitter is not a reliable sources. Furthermore, it looks like the ongoing fighting is related to the Eastern Syria insurgency and far from as intense as previously. Applodion (talk) 12:34, 25 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Most news sites are also reporting it. The tribal forces have again recaptured larges areas in east of deir ezzor including Tayyanah and most of Dhiban.

No offense, but this is not what these sources are saying. The first sources is from August, not September. The others all report a few new attacks, but not a resumption of a full-scale rebellion. Applodion (talk) 15:13, 25 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Apology for first wrong link.
By seeing new footage emerging on twitter and telegram, it is clear that SDF has withdrawn from all their sites in Dhiban, tayyanah, huwayj and other areas for now. The fights look intense and as same scale as early september.
One of videos of SDF withdrawal from near Dhiban is below:

Again: Twitter and Telegram are not reliable. If regular sources are not yet reporting large territorial losses of the SDF, we cannot include it here. If there is a large uprising, news sites will probably start talking about it in detail over the next days. So let's just wait a bit, and then update the article.
