May 1st Assault[edit]

This article is titled the 7th Deir Ez Zor offensive, implying it's a continuation of the previous SDF/SAA anti-ISIL advances last year. Though the article is right now about the clashes between the SDF and SAA, the SDF, on May 1st, Indeed launched a brand new offensive against ISIL in Deir Ez-Zor.

Should we differentiate by creating a new page for the new SDF offensive, or simply add on to this page and relegating the SDF-SAA clashes to its own section, and giving SDF/ISIL clashes its own, new section. I preemptively edited the page to reflect this, but i think we should at least reach a consensus as we go forward. Thelovelyconch (talk) 00:40, 2 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

I agree,the new SDF offensive needs an article of itself.Alhanuty (talk) 01:15, 2 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The offensive is still part of the SDF's Jazeera Storm, so it's just a new phase of the Deir ez-Zor offensive (September 2017–present). Editor abcdef (talk) 06:17, 2 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The one-day SAA-SDF clashes are definitely not part of the anti-ISIL offensive that started, which needs a new article. The new operations by the SDF can be considered a part of the previously concluded Jazeera Storm offensive only if sources show up to confirm this, which I haven't seen so far. Unless sources show up that confirm the new operations are a simple continuation of Jazeera Storm, like I said, this new anti-ISIL offensive will need its own article. As for this article here, its only about the one-day clashes that took place between the SAA and SDF. EkoGraf (talk) 11:17, 2 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed solution to result edit war[edit]

I propose that the page simply say "Clashed concluded" to solve the problem of displaying whether the article was an SAA or SDF victory. I would propose "Indecisive" as another solution but the SAA did maintain hold of one village. --FPSTurkey (talk) 08:38, 7 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

FPSTurkey I would support your compromise proposal of the result being "Indecisive". Please feel free to make the edit. EkoGraf (talk) 14:52, 8 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
