split article?[edit]

On the Harry Harrison main article his Deathworld series is all listed out. However only the Deathworld 1 is clickable yet that article contains info on all three articles. Should we seperate the three books into separate articles?

I read D2 and D3 about a year ago and the books were about 100-150 pages long each, hardly enough content to warrant an article except as a detailed plot synopsis. So I think that I'll just make a redirect from the listings of all three Deathworld books to this page.

Inskipp and the Special Corps[edit]

Currently, the second paragraph of the intro says:

There are several hints that the novels take place in the same universe as Harrison's The Stainless Steel Rat series; however, other hints suggest a similar universe but not exactly the same one. For example, at several points in the Deathworld series, the novels mention the Special Corps with Inskipp as its leader; however, the story "The Mothballed Spaceship" mentions an armada about to attack Earth—a planet that is long destroyed in the time of The Stainless Steel Rat universe. However, that can be explained by Inskipp's immortality and the epoch in which the events of the novel take place, long before destruction of the Earth and even longer before the events of The Stainless Steel Rat

I bolded the bit I dispute, since I just read the entire trilogy, as well as the Astounding/Analog serial versions of the two first books, and in none of them is there a single mention of Inskipp or the Special Corps. Deathworld 3 does mention the Breakdown, though, which links to the Stainless Steel Rat (as well as to both the Brion Brandd and To the Stars series and at least one otherwise unrelated short story). So I wonder where the above information is supposed to have come from? Differences in editions? (I read the single novels, not the Trilogy/Omnibus edition.) Synopsis: who is superior, and how?[edit]

The otherwise excellent synopsis contains, "Bothered that he may finally have met someone superior to him,...", but it does not actually identify who is superior to Jason, nor in what way. It might be thought, since the synopsis mentions '...his erratic psionic abilities...' that someone is superior to him in that regard, but I don't think that's the case. I suspect that it's Kerk Pyrrus' strength & martial skills developed from his life surviving on Pyrrus (& maybe his fancy neuro-controlled gun, if I remember that correctly?), but I don't have the novel here in front of me, so I can't be sure.UnderEducatedGeezer (talk) 00:37, 15 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Should the detailed plots of russian sequels to Deathworld be here?[edit]

According to Harry Harrison's official website, he confirmed that he had collaborated with the russian writers on those, but they were only to be published in Russian, not in English. Judging by this, it seems that Harrison's participation was letting the "co-authors" use his setting and characters - it's doubtful that he actually wrote some parts of the books in Russian.
