To merge De Akkers metro station crash into De Akkers metro station, while newsworthy at the time, does not have the sustained notability for a page. Klbrain (talk) 23:12, 26 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is not a newspaper, and this is unlikely to satisfy Wikipedia:Notability (events). Not everything that happens, even quirky events that get reported around the world for 1 day, warrant a permanent encyclopedia article. There is unlikely to be lasting effects or continued coverage. This event can easily be summarized in a few sentences in De Akkers metro station. --Animalparty! (talk) 02:40, 3 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support. As per given reasons. - X201 (talk) 08:38, 3 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. Huge worldwide press coverage. BBC article Extraordinary crash into the whale sculpture. Notable story. The long investigation is coming. 178.95.248.47 (talk) 09:10, 3 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. As per given reasons. Any results from the inquiry can be incorporated into the article on the metro station, as they are intrinsically linked. Autarch (talk) 10:58, 3 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose - unusual event, significant coverage means that WP:GNG is met. Mjroots (talk) 17:56, 4 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
See WP:SUSTAINED. Brief bursts of news coverage may not sufficiently demonstrate notability. Similarly, not every speech or interview by a politician warrants its own article even if hundreds of daily newspapers cover it. Newspapers cover what's noteworthy today. Encyclopedias cover what's noteworthy now and in the future. --Animalparty! (talk) 21:19, 4 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. Only time will tell if the crash has lasting effects and continued coverage. Merge the crash story into the station article now and evaluate in a couple of years if the crash warrants a separate articleRuud Buitelaar (talk) 15:42, 5 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. per nominator. --papageno (talk) 20:18, 5 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support, the station is short enough to accommodate the crash in detail. The reason the crash is notable is the whale tails sculpture holding up.--Astral Leap (talk) 10:12, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support, nothing particularly notable about this crash to be described except for the scenery. If you look at Montparnasse derailment for example, there were passengers involved, a discussion on technical failures and a significant legacy section. Pieceofmetalwork (talk) 16:25, 16 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support If the metro station article were long enough that it'd need to be split anyway I'd say no, but it's barely more than a stub. I agree the scenery of the crash is what made it so notable, and there's not much reporting into the other parts of it. Uses x (talk{{reply to|Uses x}}contribs) 13:59, 26 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
