Discharge of firearm[edit]

I'm moving this for now to the talk. This seems to just be a random unrelated event, you might as well have a section for people who have slipped on ice in a 5 mile radius to DB. I suggest this gets taken out 99.155.85.102 (talk) 07:11, 20 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

2009 unintentional discharge of firearm[edit]

In November 2009, a plant security officer was using the restroom and his firearm discharged while in the holster. The officer sustained a non life threatening wound to his calf. No cause was found for the discharge.[1]

Origin[edit]

Does anyone know the origin of the name of the plant? Who or what was "Davis" and "Besse" before that name was applied to the plant? 02:39, 13 May 2006 66.69.163.37

"The indictment names other employees as providing false information to inspectors as well, but does not name them."? I don't know the details, so I'm hesitant to change this, but I imagine this meant to say that the indictment asserted that other employees provided false information, without specifically naming which other employees did so. -Chinju 21:45, 21 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The plant was originally jointly owned by Cleveland Electric Illuminating (CEI) and Toledo Edison (TE). As of 2006, it is operated by the FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. The plant was named for former TE Chairman John K. Davis and former CEI Chairman Ralph M. Besse.

Close paraphrasing[edit]

When the reactor was opened for maintenance in 2002, it was discovered that boric acid had eaten a head-sized hole pretty much all the way through the top of the reactor vessel. As the plant’s operator, FirstEnergy, later reported, “there was a focus on production, established by management, combined with taking minimum actions to meet regulatory requirements, that resulted in the acceptance of degraded conditions.” Disaster was only narrowly avoided.

The article says:

I have bolded precise duplication to make clearer where issues exist.
