Untitled[edit]

A known David Williams was born 10 Oct 174_ in Frederick County, Virginia. This David is a reference for several pensions applications for soldiers who served in the American Revolution. There is a Will for David Williams filed in Mercer County, Kentucky in 1832.

His father was Vincent Williams who was killed by Indians in July of 1756. Vincent's death is recorded on a Historical Marker along Pattersons Creek in Grant County, West Virginia.

David's mother Mary, gave birth to a son about 2 months after the death of her husband. This son, born 7 Oct 1756, was named Edward and he became the first Clerk of the Court for Hardy County, Virginia.

The area along Patterson Creek was orginally Frederick County, Virginia. The area then was Hampshire County, Virginia and later Hampshire and Hardy Counties, Virginia. This area became a part of West Virginia during the Civil war. Grant County was created from Hardy County and a part of Hampshire County. The marker is about a mile north of Williamsport, WV

Near the marker for Vincent Williams there is a family cemetery. This cemetery has markers for the son named Vincent, born 12 Jun 1745, and members of his family.

A sister Elizabeth was born 07 Jul 1753 and married Arthur Chenoweth.
