Scottish Academic?[edit]

He's Welsh. Does he count as a Scottish academic because of his time at Edinburgh? VsevolodKrolikov 15:07, 6 April 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by VsevolodKrolikov (talkcontribs)

He lives in Edinburgh. (He `retired` back to his home there from his `retirement job` in Oxford.) And he's a member of the RSE. Are you proposing some sort of strict ethnic definition of Scottishness? We'll have to worry about whether someone's ethnically an academic next. Dan Dean (talk) 09:23, 8 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Err, calm down. That's a bit of an over-reaction to bring in "strict ethnic definitions". I'm not on some purity crusade. Someone settling in Edinburgh on retirement doesn't make them Scottish by default. Anyway, I'll come clean. I'm a relative of his. If he considers himself anything, it's Welsh. Retiring back to Edinburgh is not a statement of nationality, but about being close to his grandchildren and a very nice country cottage.VsevolodKrolikov 16:54, 6 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Anyway, I've changed the category. I had to create the stub template; it's the first one I've created, so I don't know if there is any more work to do to tidy things up. VsevolodKrolikov (talk) 18:58, 9 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
