Not everyone sitting down[edit]

It may be worth noting to someone on the Davos incident, that not all members remained sitting as the Turkish Prime Minister left the stage. Arab Leader Amr Musa, clearly stood up to shake his hand as he left. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.126.199.22 (talk) 05:09, 1 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Physical contact between the Prime Minister of Turkey and David Ignatius at Davos[edit]

It is a well know fact amongst Protocol advisors that physical contact should never be made with a Head of State or Head of Government, unless initiated by the Head of State or Head of Government. Prime Minister Erdogan himself has also stated in Istanbul that he was quite angered by the lack of respect shown and physical gestures made by the moderator.

For this reason, it is said that the Turkish Prime Minister's Chief Advisors and Close Protection detail at Davos were quite angered at Mr. Ignatius for nudging the Turkish Prime Minister (on the shoulder) on several occassions in a bid to get him to stop his speeech. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.148.209.236 (talk) 02:27, 3 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Armenian and jewish descent?[edit]

Are this new Inputs of the last hours right? Are there any sources which verify this?--85.180.139.172 (talk) 11:39, 30 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

In an article he wrote in the Washington Post (The Dignity Agenda 14 October 2007) David Ignatius said that he is "I'm an Armenian American, and some of my own relatives perished in that genocidal slaughter" http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/10/12/AR2007101202147.html —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.234.140.88 (talk) 13:01, 30 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

__________________________ An Armenian could be a Jew! Just like an American Jewish! This is another wide-spread confusion, like Arab = Muslim! There are Arabs who are Jewishs, Christians, as well as Atheists:) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Coramaroc (talkcontribs) 01:21, 31 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

No u can not be Armenian and Jewish. There are no Armenian Jews. There are Georgian Jews but historically there want any community in Armenia who could identify themselves as Armenian who observes Judaism. There is a tiny muslim minority among Armenian Hamshenahays, some part of Armenians are catholic or protestant but to be Armenian first of all is to be an Apostolic Orthodox Armenian. Thats one of the main characteristics of Armenian self identification. But I understand why is that so important to mention his roots or one incident of his life when moderatiing a conference. There is practically nothing about this man in wikipedia. I have a perception somebody created this page just to mention about the incident in Davos. This is not an encyclopedic article. armenianNY

David is Armenian and not Jewish. I have discussed his Armenian Heritage with him and he had no reason to lie. Still what he did was despicable. To serve as moderator but to refuse to be impartial is wrong and reprehensible. Locking his page is typical of Wikipedia which has a strong bias against Islam and Islamic related groups and causes. Someone should tell Jimbo that the truth is enough and all religious groups should have equal rights in Wikipedia. As for David Ignatius if he has no problem with Gaza then he must have no problems with the Armenian Massacres in Turkey. Or did the Massacres cause him to treat Turkey so poorly. References that David Ignatius is Jewish, should be added to personal information.

the whole world is talking about this subject. And you wont accept that he is jewish. You may not belife what the international media is talking about US, but everybody is thinking that the government censored this article and cut out the fact that he is jewish!
this is no fun anymore, its getting political! So I hope you'll get a solution soon!

What I wonder is before this incident in Davos, Wikipedia article had him as of jewish origin. Once the incident occurred, this was modified. I am just curious as to what happened. 71.103.7.42 (talk) 08:22, 2 February 2009 (UTC)Ur[reply]

Charanga is talking nonsense! There is a full WIKI article on Aramenian-Jew: History of the Jews in Armenia! The History of the Jews in Armenia dates back more than 2,000 years. Coramaroc (talk) 07:16, 9 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Ignatius isn't a Jew, nor descended from Jews. How did that even come up? Bluespapa (talk) 18:49, 27 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

what PM of Turkey is said[edit]

wiritten wrong. it must be "And so Davos is over for me from now on." icoulnd'y change it.--Tarihçi Selo (talk) 07:20, 1 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

it should be added that Peres was spreading misinformation over the Gaza conflict "Why did they fire at us? What did they want? We didn’t occupy. There was never a day of starvation in Gaza. By the way, Israel is the supplier of water daily to Gaza. Israel is the supplier of fuel to Gaza." All this is verifiably untrue. His speech and retort is here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cR4zRbPy2kY&feature=player_embedded. To say that Erdogan was reacting to his tone is inaccurate. This should be changed. -Helio —Preceding unsigned comment added by Heliocenter (talkcontribs) 17:23, 27 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

edition[edit]

His family from Elazığ [ (, WA:Kharpert, Kurdish: Elezîz or Xarput) is a city in the Elazığ Province of eastern Turkey and the seat of the province. It has a population of 266,495 (2000 census). The city is 1067 meters above sea level. It occupies the location of what the Turkish, Zaza and Kurdish-speaking inhabitants of the region called Mezre or Mezra, meaning simply "a hamlet" in both Turkish and Kurdish. []

should be added here.--Tarihçi Selo (talk) 07:28, 1 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Graham Greene[edit]

This article previously compared Ignatius' novels to "spy novelist" Graham Greene, which is greatly reductive as Greene was firstly a noted international journalist, a member of the British foreign service, an acclaimed screenwriter & a writer of some of the most acclaimed literary novels of the 20th century who also enjoyed writing 'entertainment' novels from time to time, this is where his spy novels fit in, but they do not define his career. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.49.237.87 (talk) 16:04, 15 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

New Section Proposed for face to face interviews[edit]

A section would be helpful for encyclopedic reference. For Example;

https://www.washingtonpost.com/video/postlive/securing-tomorrow-with-david-ignatius-and-sen-bob-corker/2017/07/26/58a0e5ce-7224-11e7-8c17-533c52b2f014_video.html

with Bob Corker. --Wikipietime (talk) 12:55, 31 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Question about "Related Articles" in mobile view[edit]

Why is there a link to biblical scholar Robert Alter one of three related articles?

Wouldn't a better fit be a different Washington Post columnist, commentator on international relations, spy novelist, or St. Albans alum? Bluespapa (talk) 18:43, 27 October 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Controversy?[edit]

The section with a heading of "Controversy" states that Ignatius attempted to enforce time limits while acting as moderator of a discussion.

This does not seem like a controversial act. Either the heading should be changed, or the section should be edited to better explain what the controversy was. 2601:281:CC80:5AE0:19F8:245A:C478:AA25 (talk) 04:41, 14 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
