Mormon issue[edit]

Today I completed a major rewrite/expansion of the article to better meet Wikipedia standards and policies. Part of that was an entire section on the Mormon conflicts in Missouri that had some real WP:Opinion and POV problems with no supporting refs. Hopefully I've made it as neutral as possible but if you disagree, and can offer supporting evidence, please discuss it below. Much thanks! Sector001 (talk) 18:48, 31 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Resignation date[edit]

Every source on the internet says Dunklin resigned September 30. I think they're wrong. I found this document from 1869, [1], which says he resigned on the 13th. "Thirteenth". I strongly suspect that Sobel (the best source for info of this type, who wrote his biographical directory of governors in 1978) or one of his sources misread that as Thirtieth. I haven't found a single source so far from before 1978 that says September 30. --Golbez (talk) 18:51, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

crap I found one from 1901: [2] oh no. Now what. --Golbez (talk) 18:54, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, so the History of Missouri by Davis and Durrie says September 30, and it's specifically noted as one of Sobel's sources. --Golbez (talk) 18:58, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Okay I think this is settled: Boggs' first biennial message to the legislature, delivered in November 1836, says "thirtieth". [3] --Golbez (talk) 19:04, 22 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
