Where does Pinzón come in? Should this be moved to Daniel Chanis?[edit]

I'm trying to source the article, and there are no hits on Daniel Pinzón that aren't about a wrestler in Florida, but Daniel Chanis is well documented. Even the list of Panamanian heads of state refer to him as the latter. There is currently a redirect from Daniel Chanis to this page, I would think flip-flopping them would make more sense. No problem either way, though you may need help from an administrator if the "Daniel Chanis" page has had more than one edit. My original redirect was caused by finding the name "Daniel Chanis" under the letter P in some category, after which I found out that the defaultsort was set to "Pinzon, Daniel Chanis" and the German and Spanish wikis have named their articles "Daniel Chanis Pinzón". Turns out the defaultsort setting was wrong (it has been corrected by now to "Chanis Pinzon, Daniel". Given that "Daniel Chanis Pinzón" does give google hits (161 sites if you exclude wikipedia) for this short-term president, and that his full name does appear in multipe (non-wikipedia) lists of Panamanian presidents, a redirect is not particularly urgent or necessary. There probably should be one policy; I have no idea why we have Domingo Díaz Arosemena, Ernesto Pérez Balladares, Florencio Flores Aguilar, and Harmodio Arias Madrid, while for most others, including Arnulfo Arias Madrid, we only use the first surname. One would have to ask a Panamanian, but my preference is for the full name, as the French, German, and Spanish lists of Panamanian presidents consistently give the full name. Thanks for the response. I won't pursue this further as your reasoning is dead on and inarguable. I only posed the question through unfamiliarity with the naming conventions. Thanks again! Vulture19 (talk) 14:58, 1 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]
