Significant divergent from Lithuanian article[edit]

The English article is mostly based on the Swedish article. However I noticed that they significantly diverge from the Lithuanian article which has many more details about her life and uses many more sources. The Swedish article claims that "Danguolë's mother had left her alone in Lithuania after she moved to the US with a man she had met when she was 14, and her father was in prison for life. The mother had also renounced all contact and responsibility of the girl in a letter to the municipality." The English article picks up that Danguolë's mother had abandoned her. While the Lithuanian article goes into detail that her mother left for the US without her daughter, but wanted to have her come to the US as soon as she had turned 16, because at that age Danguolë would not need the agreement of her father to move to the US. The Lithuanian article also points out that her mother had arranged for Danguolë being taken care of by her family members and she regularly send money to her daughter. It seems that the Swedish portrayal of Danguolë's mother is an adaptation of the plot of "Lilya 4-ever", the Swedish movie which is loosely based on Danguolë's life and not based on reality.
