Explanation of photo revert[edit]

The photo that User:Tillman added is dramatic, has artistic merit, and is high quality. However, I reverted the addition of the photo, because the older photo showed the subject of the article better. The older photo shows a meadow in front of Mount Dana, while the newer (more artistic) photo shows little, if any, meadow, and Mammoth Peak (?) in the background. I think the older photo is more suitable for an encyclopedia.

As a compromise, I create a Commons Gallery and placed the new photo as the first in the gallery. —hike395 (talk) 05:04, 29 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Requested move 7 August 2018[edit]

The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review. No further edits should be made to this section.

The result of the move request was: move the pages to Dana Meadows (California) and Dana Meadows (Pakistan) at this time, per the discussion below. A disambiguation page has been created. Dekimasuよ! 20:09, 15 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Donella "Dana" Meadows attracts more than ten times more visitors than the Dana Meadows in Yosemite National Park (67/day versus 4/day). What is more, there is also a place called Dana Meadows, Kaghan in Pakistan (4/day). Thus, I this suggest to redirect "Dana Meadows" to Donella Meadows and to specify the two places name with their country for clarity and consistency. If useful, we could also add Template:Distinguish at the top of those three pages. 144.85.248.148 (talk) 17:54, 7 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Change proposal: Also, I believe that the nickname "Dana Meadows" is much less common than "Donella Meadows". A Google search for "Donella Meadows" -Dana returns 142,000 hits for me, while "Dana Meadows" Donella only returns 2740 hits. Per WP:NICKNAME, the article about the environmentalist should stay at Donella Meadows, and Dana Meadows should be a disambiguation page.
In other words, I would propose:

  • Follow-up. Thank you for your correction about mountains. I thought that "Dana Meadows" should be a redirection to "Donella Meadows", but your suggestion to create a disambiguation page seems also good. As far as I'm concerned, we can go ahead as you described. 144.85.233.43 (talk) 19:16, 8 August 2018 (UTC).[reply]
Let's wait until 14 August to allow others to contribute. —hike395 (talk) 03:14, 12 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose nomination and Support creation of Dana Meadows disambiguation page as detailed by hike395 and seconded by the nominator, 144.85.233.43.    Roman Spinner (talkcontribs) 23:51, 11 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment. "(California)", and rarely "(Yosemite)", are normal disambiguations for the categories in this article. Although it successfully disambiguates from "(Pakistan)", "(United States)" is so vague here as to be unhelpful and is probably deprecated by a guideline that I'm unaware of. You're thinking of WP:PLACEDAB. You're right: it should be Dana Meadows (California). —hike395 (talk) 15:57, 15 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
