I am Andrew Lance Stephen Fowler of South Africa. My Father is DP Fowler and my late grandfather was DS Fowler, all of South Africa, and all descended from David Fowler of David Fowler Ltd, Durban South Africa (Son of George Swan Fowler.) I am in possession of the newspaper clipping from the London Times in 1902, which details the bankruptcy of David Fowler due to various failed theatrical productions which he attempted after he left the employ of D & J Fowler. It is alleged (in verbal history passed down in the South African branch of the family), that David Fowler, after his bankruptcy, borrowed 5 pounds stirling, stowed away on a boat to Monte Carlo, and there made considerable winnings, which allowed him to move to South Africa and start a new life. David Fowler is buried on the farm "Umgeni Poort" on the Umgeni river, which he purchased and farmed, and which his son DS Fowler sold in 1948. DS Fowler moved to the farm "Petrus Stroom", which was later sub divided into "Corrie Lynn Farm", farmed by DP Fowler, and "Petrus Stroom" farmed by his brother John Malcolm Fowler. Corrie Lynn is now owned by Robin James Fowler, and Petrus Stroom by David Fowler, sons of John and "DP" respectively.
