Mountain Biking UK[edit]

Damon Brown and Nick [unknown] of Mountain Biking UK magazine appear to have cycled part way into the service tunnel in c.1994/1995.

Having tracked down Damon Brown, the other rider was Nick Dutton-Taylor and it was probably circa November 1993 (close to the end of construction, but prior to opening). Brown was civil-engineer, and the idea had been pitched to MBUK after finding about the use of bicycles by contractors to get around inside the tunnel. —Sladen (talk) 08:51, 29 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Wally Michalski[edit]

Wally Michalski is shown holding a newspaper in a photograph[1] attributed to Jenn Pierce. The newspaper is not readable in the 619×485 version, but the text that can be made out appears to show "Weekender" "Chunneling under the Sea" "Saskatchewan workers made mark in world's largest engineering project". The article itself[2] suggests that was in the "1994 Regina Leader-Post"[3]. —Sladen (talk) 14:29, 29 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]

MicDT, earlier this year I wasn't able to track down the rest of the metadata (author, page number, title, editor, ISSN, …) for the 1994 Canadian coverage. Do you still have a copy and can fill out the blanks? —Sladen (talk) 05:52, 3 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

This widely considered to be the first cross channel cycle trip in history. The crossing was originally detailed on a UK blog page^{[clarification needed]} called the Cross Connect Point.
