This is just silly. They were named for the practice. The article is about their culture and could use a little more background and information than simply that it was practiced before it wasn't. -LlywelynII (talk) 16:46, 15 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Meanwhile, while it would be good to add more information in the body, the picture that's there now isn't actually appropriate: it's an illustration of the practice of another tribe on the other end of America. The Attacapa, eg, flattened the front of their heads like this, but other tribes (including the Choctaw?) flattened the sides.
