Hill fort?[edit]

The article currently makes no mention of the earthwork located at 51°58′13″N 4°41′00″W / 51.97028°N 4.68333°W / 51.97028; -4.68333 which is about 1.5 miles west of Crymych. In Google Earth (GE), there are three tumuli (cairns) within the boundary defined by the earth bank. So it is not clear to me whether this was built as a hill fort or as a bounded cemetary space or adapted from one form to another. So, a few questions:

The article does mention burial mounds, so am I talking about the same thing?
If it is/was a hill fort does it have a local name (other than the obvious)?
Does anyone out there have any books which we can cite, regarding its existence?
In the GE imagery as at 2009-04-12 the sun angle makes the hilltop appear to be peppered with pock-marks (5-6m across), similar to what you can see at Grimes Graves so it may have been a flint mining site. Again, is there anything published to this effect?

I was planning to add to the article on Carningli hillfort to say that the one at Crymych was one of a couple nearby to it but the Carningli article is presently being flagged as WP:OR (suspicions that the author of the reference books is also author of the article). So, if anyone finds material suitable to cite for the Crymych fort, can they also seek information about Carningli and beef up that article too? Thanks. Recent geological research indicates that some stones in stonehenge came from a hilltop cairn close to Crymych. How old is the hillfort. Could it have been the reason why the stones were sourced in this area or in some way connected to the culture that built stonehenge? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.24.188.188 (talk) 05:33, 20 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I have no archaeological knowledge so can't help with these questions, but would they be better asked in relation to articles such as Bluestone or Preseli Hills rather than the article about the village? Tony Holkham (talk) 10:33, 20 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
