Requested move 13 October 2022[edit]

Cristofori (disambiguation)CristoforiCristofori it was a redirect to Bartolomeo Cristofori, very important but not the only one. About incoming links Special:WhatLinksHere/Cristofori, olny one, and not referred to Bartolomeo Cristofori MrKeefeJohn (talk) 06:37, 13 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

  • Strong oppose, Bartolomeo Cristofori is clearly the primary topic, by number of interlanguage links alone. Also the link situation is only the way it is because you changed the links yourself. The fact that you failed to mention this points to either malice or incompetence. Also, this requested move is malformed. I'm not going to fix it ... if you can't figure out how to make this request properly, you have no business making edits like this. Graham87 13:04, 14 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    • I've removed the only remaining link to the "Cristofori" page. Whoever it was referring to, they're clearly super-obscure. Graham87 13:26, 14 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
      • Some answers. 1) I fixed the entering links to improve wiki, that's all. 2) Your comment "The fact that you failed to mention this points to either malice or incompetence" it's not polite at least as many of your comments. 3) In 5 other languages Cristofori is NOT a redirect to Bartolomeo Cristofori. I didn't edit those pages, so you can not check it MrKeefeJohn (talk) 15:44, 14 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
        • You should not fix redirects that aren't broken. It doesn't matter what other language Wikipedias do, especially as standards for how to deal with primary topics vary wildly across languages. Besides, in several other languages, "Cristofori" is a redirect to the inventor, like it is here. Graham87 01:57, 15 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
            • It's possibile to fix the redirect if " Good reasons to bypass redirects include: ... Links on disambiguation pages. See Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Disambiguation pages § Piping and redirects for rationale and exceptions." Among the other people there is an Olympic gold medal, I mean Pierpaolo Cristofori. About other wiki, I know the situation because I have created some of the redirects you are showing me;-) and also the a new disambiguation page. The situation in other wiki is clear and simple: when exists olny Bartolomeo Cristofori, Cristofori is a redirect, if not, it's a disambiguation. Anyways this is the en.wiki, I propose to move this page, because for me it's not functional, but if this wiki decides to do not move it, I don't mind. Just don't try to show me that it's logical ;_) MrKeefeJohn (talk) 08:35, 16 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose per Graham87, clear primary topic for mononym. I only accepted the disambiguation because of the mention of the school. AngusW🐶🐶F (barksniff) 14:30, 14 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
    • Among the other people there is an Olympic gold medal: Pierpaolo Cristofori MrKeefeJohn (talk) 08:37, 16 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
      • The piano has far more historical significance than a random gold medallist in a relatively obscure Olympic sport with a tiny article in his native language. On the English Wikipedia, we have the concept of primary topics;on the Italian Wikipedia, where I see your old account has made thousands of edits (here's the evidence of the connection), they seem not to, at least to anywhere near the extent of most Wikipedia languages. For example, we have an article called Ruabon about a town of Wales with a population of 2,400 and one called Ruabon, Western Australia about a locality (i.e. a district without much of a townsite) with a population of 82 that, despite living near there and having created the article about it, I've never had any reason to go to specifically. However the Italian Wikipedia, alone among all major wikis, has it:Ruabon as a disambiguation page and no article about the hyper-obscure place in Western Australia. The latter situation would never, ever be allowed here. Graham87 15:56, 16 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
        • I had already wrote that I made a proposal, if it is accepted for me it's not so important, if Cristofori will remain a redirect it's ok. And it's not necessary to explain what is it primary topic, I know it. For example when I created Gancia (disambiguation) for me it's clear that Gancia it's the main meaning.
