"Punitive" limbs[edit]

Article read: "Crassigyrinus grew up to 1.5 meters in length, coupled with punitive limbs and unusually large jaws."
I changed "punitive" to "small", with the edit summary " ""punitive" is apparently just wrong here".
User:71.246.96.183 changed this back to "punitive", with the edit summary "have you seen the forelimbs?"
I have seen the illustrations of C. in this article, and yes, the forelimbs appear to have been darned small.
However, definitions of "punitive" include: "serving for, concerned with, or inflicting punishment", "Inflicting or aiming to inflict punishment; punishing", "inflicting, involving, or aiming at punishment", "intended as a punishment", "used to describe costs which are so high they are difficult to pay, and which are often used to punish someone or limit their activities", "inflicting, involving, or aiming at punishment" (from -- http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/punitive -- http://dictionary.cambridge.org/define.asp?key=64215&dict=CALD -- http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/punitive )
As far as I can tell, all definitions are in this "semantic range", and there is no definition which refers to "size".
It looks to me, as I originally said, that "punitive" is apparently just wrong here, and that we want to use some other word.

Perhaps he meant "putative"? Giant Blue Anteater (talk) 01:26, 30 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
IMHO the most straightforward guess is "puny". I'm waiting for a response from User:71.246.96.183. -- 201.37.230.43 (talk) 15:31, 30 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I really think he meant putative, hence him asking "have you seen the forelimbs?" Giant Blue Anteater (talk) 05:32, 31 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Current text "tiny" is good by me. -- 201.37.230.43 (talk) 13:38, 3 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
