Time for a category?[edit]

There are an ever-increasing number of these projects, and articles upon them. Clearly time for an overall category, but what should it be called?

Andy Dingley (talk) 12:48, 12 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

But are any of them notable, aside from the requisite months of relentless hysterical drum-beating by local media outlets desparate to keep their jobs from being outsourced to the chain's head office in Wichita? I like "CowParades" best as a category title since it shows the poverty of imagination of imitators shows attribution to the original. --Wtshymanski (talk) 19:01, 12 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
If we have articles on these, then we should have a category on them.
Should we have any articles on these? Yes, if they meet our stated policy on notability. I think this is possible - the Larkin Toads look like one of the better examples, although this could possibly be merged into the overall Larkin festival article.
Should we have as many articles as we do? Almost certainly not! Most of these don't justify themselves (Mermaids is the latest).
I wouldn't support a separate list article though, just the list section we already have in the lead article. Andy Dingley (talk) 23:37, 12 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Two cities and Peanuts statues[edit]

I cannot make these corrections myself due to a Peanuts-related WP:COI, but the information here on the North America list for St. Paul is all messed up, and Santa Rosa is underspecific

The correct events are:

St. Paul

  • 2000: Peanuts on Parade (Snoopy statues)[1]
  • 2001: Charlie Brown Around Town[2]
  • 2002: Looking for Lucy[3]
  • 2003: Linus Blankets St. Paul[4]
  • 2004: Doghouse Days of Summer (Snoopy & Woodstock)[5]

Santa Rosa

  • 2005: It's Your Town, Charlie Brown[6]
  • 2006: Summer of Woodstock[7]
  • 2007: Snoopy's "Joe Cool" Summer[8]

Cities[edit]

The list of cities seems to be random- it might have been originally chronological, but isn't any more. And it certainly isn't alphabetical! When it gets cleaned up, Portland, Oregon should be added. Although I never heard the project called "CowParade", there were 108 statues, starting in March, 2002. I know of the current locations of 2 of them. Several years later, at a thrift store, I found a small stuffed cow of the same sort, so there seems to be some merchandising connected. CFLeon (talk) 01:39, 25 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Explanations needed[edit]

  • In which sense/ way are these used for fundraising? Are they at all (and not only used in hope of tourist attraction)?
  • The Edinbourgh project needs explanation.
  • What are "Wullies" ??? 2A02:3032:413:CD0E:2:1:687E:B9B (talk) 11:52, 11 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]
