Methods of ranking of tall buildings[edit]

I wrote to the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat to ask them what method was used rank tall buildings. This is there reply:


I can confirm that the CTBUH does rank the height of buildings using four different methods. These are outlined below:

1) Height to structural top of the building This is the main criteria under which the CTBUH ranks the height of buildings. The height of a building is measured from the sidewalk level of the main entrance to the structural top of the building. This includes spires, but does not include television antennas, radio antennas, or flag poles.

Other rankings

2) To Highest Occupied Floor: Height to the floor of the highest occupied floor of the building.

3)To Top of Roof: Height to the top of the roof.

4)To Tip of Spire/Antenna: Height to the tip of spire, pinnacle, antenna, mast or flag pole.

Copyright violations[edit]

This article contains content copied directly from http://www.ctbuh.org. Wikipedia does not allow copyrighted content from being added to its articles. Copyright violation appears to be substantial. For example, the article as it is now says, "The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat is involved in many tall building design research projects in conjunction with higher-education institutions and academics around the world" The source says, "The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat is involved in many tall building design research projects in conjunction with higher-education institutions and academics around the world." The article says, "This was a record event for the Council, with 954 delegates attending, representing 43 separate countries. The Congress hosted presentations, seminars and workshops covering virtually every aspect of tall building development, with a particular emphasis on sustainability." The source says, "This was a record event for the Council, with 954 delegates attending, representing 43 separate countries. To whom it may concern.. I am one of the contributors working to update the CTBUH wikipedia page and an employee of the CTBUH. I am working to remove all the copyrighted material, which was added as a mistake and to update the page so that it meets all the wikipedia criteria. Hi. I have removed the material to a subpage, here. Please continue your cleaning in that space. Technically, this should be written from scratch to completely avoid infringement, but if you can quickly complete the removal of copyrighted material from Wikipedia there, I can merge it with this article when you are finished. But please be advised that as an employee of the organization you are strongly discouraged from editing the article by our conflict of interest guidelines. Fazlur Khan as Founder[edit]
