Cyclical Definition[edit]

The definition of "Coral island" here is: "A coral island is the result of an atoll whose lagoon has dried up or been filled in with coral sand and detritus.", but the definition of "Atoll" by its page is: "An atoll (...) is a coral island (or islands) that encircles a lagoon...".

These definitions refer to each other leaving me with no understanding of what either of these terms mean. This should not be the case when we open an encyclopedia to learn about geography... Fastidipedia (talk) 10:25, 6 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I rewrote large sections of the article based on a few sources I could find, to describe them in a more generic way. I'm sure it can be extended far more by more knowledgeable people. --David Edgar (talk) 03:17, 26 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]
