Notability and sourcing of article[edit]

(Original posts copied from user talk page)

You keep adding uncited information to this page. The information added should be directly cited and summarised so people can see the source. They should not have to look through various seasons to check the data. If the information is not directly available somewhere else then we should not be collating and summarising it at this article. Thanks. Eldumpo (talk) 08:54, 24 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, it was not my intention to do something wrong, i just wanted to add some information so the competition statistics were similar to the Europe competition. I think i am the source because i keep track of every statistic and i update it at the end of every edition. Please do not delete it, let me know how can i improve the page, thank you. Sorry for the delay in responding to your reply. Please post any further reply here; I will watch this page. All information needs to be directly summarised, and if as in this case, we are summarising event information, we should be taking that summary directly from a source, and not making our own assumptions about what is notable. You can’t use your own work as the source. This page constitutes a reliable source although most of what is at the statistics article is not at the RSSSF source. Other information at the statistics article is already at List of Copa Sudamericana finals and Copa Sudamericana clubs performance comparison, although I have doubts as to whether the latter is a notable article either. I’m not seeing anything at the above statistics article other than duplicates of elsewhere or non-notable information. Regards. Eldumpo (talk) 15:03, 29 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I appreciate your advice, thank you very much and I will keep it in mind to improve future works. Cabj94 (talk) 12:12, 29 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your comments about heeding my advice, although to be clear I feel that large parts of the article in question should be deleted (and possibly the remainder redirected), and I intend to do that at some point soon if no direct sources have been added. I will for ease copy this thread to the article talk page. Regards. Eldumpo (talk) 15:31, 29 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
I added the RSSSF source. But, ¿do you think the same of the articles about Champions League and Europa League? I think those are not cuestioned, and mine of Copa Sudamericana is. ¿Why is this happening? Thank you. 15:21, 29 December 2019 (UTC)
The RSSSF source is not appropriate to be added (to the Copa Sudamericana clubs performance comparison article) as it does not support the information at the article. Those European articles have similar problems (lack of references, notability) but I am only dealing with Sudamericana. However just because similar information exists elsewhere does not mean it will be acceptable. If you want to get further input/views you could post at WT:Footy. Number of participating clubs by country[edit]

This section does not need to be included I think, per WP:NOTSTATS. GiantSnowman 21:18, 5 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, why in all this types of continental football competitions the section of "Participating teams by country" is allowed, an in this particular tournament no? Thank you for the answer. Cabj94 (talk) 15:07, 23 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, as set out in above thread, all information needs to be directly sourced from a reliable reference, and it can’t just be included here because similar articles may have these details. Eldumpo (talk) 23:16, 23 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]
