Does African content belong in Region-Africa?[edit]

Should not the Egypt, Libya, Tunisia, and Morocco content be included in Region - Africa instead of (?as well as?) here? Thanks, BrekekekexKoaxKoax (talk) 00:43, 28 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

As well as: IMHO that would be a very bad idea. Brief crosslinks would be OK. Boud (talk) 01:56, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Instead of: Maybe wait a few more days to see if anybody has a good argument one way or the other. This page already looks like it's ready for at least three countries to split off into individual articles reasonably soon. Boud (talk) 01:56, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
If you split those off as North Africa, then Wikipedia:Transclusion could be used to include them in both Africa and Middle East without having the content editable in more than one place. But probably better to wait for more opinions on this. Boud (talk) 04:39, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The pan-regional content length is becoming more and more manageable now that some of the countries can be merged outward into new, independent articles. At this point, I strongly favor disambiguating this article and merging the content with Africa and Asia.   — C M B J   07:01, 2 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
North African Content should be in the Middle East section. I know Morocco or Algeria are not included in the traditional definition of the Middle East but as they are Arabic speaking (mostly) countries they are part of the Middle East (culturally and politically) rather than Africa (though obviously geographically they are in Africa), I think they should not be moved to Africa. An alternative could be to use MENA but I really dislike that term for some reason.--Aa2-2004 (talk) 09:32, 13 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Citing cables[edit]

Suggestion: use non-wikileaks sources for notability, and the cables themselves as direct sources either for direct quotes and/or to make sure that the reader has easy access to make his/her own judgment. Suggested citation style:

  • <ref name="01CITYNAME1234">{{cite document| last =| first =| authorlink =| coauthors =| title =| id={{WikiLeaks cable|01CITYNAME1234}} |work =| publisher =[[WikiLeaks]]| date =| url = |format =| doi =| accessdate = |archiveurl= |archivedate= |deadurl=no }}</ref>
  • webcitation can be used for archiveurl and archivedate

Updated id= parameter following discussion at template page. Boud (talk) 18:54, 7 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Copyedit[edit]

Hi, I am working through a copyedit of your article. I will go section by section to make any reversions easier. If you think I've made a mistake, or just don't think what I've done is helpful to the article, feel free to revert me, I won't be offended! --Despayre (talk) 22:34, 19 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

ARG... lost many notes here, hit a wrong button, but I think most of my edits haven't been controversial at all, until we get to the Egypt section... major copyvio issues here.

- I think this section needs a re-write...cut and pasting the section from 3 different sources does not eliminate copyvio, it means you violated it 3 times...

Jordan:

- changed date format for continuity
- minor prose fix, removed "then-"
- removed link as per wp:overlink
- changed U.S. to US as per MOS and article continuity

Kuwait:

- removed saudi wikilink, as per wp:overlink
- formatted longer quote
- standardized spelling of al-Qaeda
- minor prose changes

Lebanon:

- corrected spelling, Hezbollah, several times
- removed lots of links as per wp:overlink
- Corruption of Nabih Berri, completely wp:copyvio, it's a direct cut and paste. Needs re-writing, summarized for now
- a bunch of raw url cites fixed, unable to process "http://justjournalism.com/media-analysis/more-wikileaks-middle-east-revelations" as it requires a login, cannot even see source material!

Libya:

- minor prose/grammatical changes only

Morocco:

- minor prose fixes only

Palestine:

- nothing to do!

Qatar:

- serial comma fix
- removed links as per wp:overlink
- minor prose fixes

Syria:

- minor prose fixes
- removed overlinks

Tunisia:

- minor format fixes/prose fixes
- overlinks removed

Yemen:

- overlinks removed
- minor grammar fixes, prose fixes
