This isn't really even an article[edit]

It looks very much like someone just copy and pasted this text from a document from the early 1990s. This is a rather large and complex subject, I'm surprised no one has made an article for Japan's "Public Works State". Promontoriumispromontorium (talk) 08:18, 13 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Rewrite in July 2020[edit]

Hello,

I have completed a rewrite of this article. here is the article after the rewrite. here is the article before.

The article was essentially the same as the one originally created in 2005. The problems with the old article I looked to address include a lack of citations, very outdated information, relying primarily on a source from 1990, and a general lack of organization or effectiveness in conveying useful information.

However, due to a lack of sources I found, and generally wanting to move on, this article is not fully where I hoped it could be.

Below are areas of further improvement. I think all of these have sources out there, but they might not be in English, which is where I ran into a wall.

Adding appropriate pictures
Seismic engineering. I included a bit about the origins of this field in Japan in the history section. This topic is alluded to in many sources, but they do not tend to elaborate
Importance and role of post-disaster rebuilding
Historical effects of the oil shocks in the 1960s and 1970s
Expanded section on sustainability
Examples of and links to particularly notable projects
