Patrice, Neon is such and interesting topic I can't wait to see how it turns out--especially since I know so little about it! Your overall format seems like it will fit Wikipedia guidelines very nicely. Your collection care section might be a good place to put in a subheading about display to discuss what's the best way to exhibit/store neon? You could look at different neon installations at various museums as examples. Any health and safety concerns that influence how neon is stored and displayed could provide a good transition. Great list of artists who work with neon--you have quite a few so that should increase page traffic! You might also want to consider adding a list of museums or other institutions that have neon in their collections. SwJHUConserv (talk) 01:30, 17 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Pat, I am so looking forward to reading your completed article. This is a medium that I had never even considered how to conserve! I think your outline looks solid, but I would mention considerations for storage/long-term care as well as those for when it's on display. Perhaps there's no differentiation, this is truly outside my area of expertise, but I have to wonder about issues such as how long a piece should be lit per day or year in order to maintain its integrity as a work of art. It looks like you found some good resources (I worried that there might not be much information on this topic for you out there). I did some research to see if MoMA had ever commented on how they care for their neon, I know they have a sizable amount in their collection, but I had no luck. Still might be worth digging into deeper though. I just had another thought and wondered if there is any need to separate discussion of neon in contemporary art vs. neon signs in historic collections (if there is any?) but ultimately, the care should be the same, I would think. Best of luck! Henrylauren10 (talk) 00:55, 18 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I think you're on the right track! And I love the feedback you've gotten. I made a sample reference for you. This WP page teaches you to do it. It may seem complicated, but it's really not that hard to cite sources. There's a guide at the top of the edit bar under "cite."RichardMcCoy (talk) 00:41, 19 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
