Condensation polymer or polymer condensation ?[edit]

This article is entitled "condensation polymer", which is a material and it glinked to the definition of "Polycondensation", which is a process leading to the formation of the former.

In wikidata, the synonyms, forms in other languages and "Description" are rather confusing: does this entry relate to the process or to the material? NVedovotto (talk) 07:30, 14 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

It seems rather arbitrary whether the article is named for the reaction process (Polycondensation) or the product material formed (Condensation polymer). The article really introduces both concepts more or less equally. As for other languages, the French agrees with the English (Polymère de condensation), but the other European languages which I can make out seem to say Polycondensation: Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, German, Russian, Ukrainian. As for polymer chemistry textbooks, I have 5 which are rather dated: Allcock, Lampe and Mark says Condensation polymerization, but the others use Step-growth polymerization which is the title of another Wiki article.
All in all I don't think there is any clear case for changing the article title. Dirac66 (talk) 18:51, 29 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
