What is a "Pixie module"?[edit]

In section "Other notes": what is a "Pixie module"? It should be explained somehow (for example inline or by a reference) --Mortense (talk) 11:42, 31 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"Ember (now Silicon Labs)" vs. "Silicon Labs (former Ember)"[edit]

This page uses both forms, and it appears confusing. Shouldn't only one form be used since they both mean the same thing? --Smithderek2000 (talk) 23:18, 27 March 2013 (UTC) Since the acquisition is now almost a year old, we all references should be changed to just "Silicon Labs". The two distinct forms have a proper use. Ember (now Silicon Labs) would be use to describe something done by Ember before it was acquired. Silicon Labs (formerly Ember) would be used to describe something done by the business unit of Silicon Labs that was once Ember. The second form is most useful to describe products that were defined and significantly developed before the acquisition but not publicly disclosed in specific detail (i.e. no data sheet) until after the acquisition. The second form should become simply Silicon Labs when sufficient time or personnel changes have ended whatever unique corporate identity or culture that made Ember different from Silicon Labs is no longer relevant. Products that were defined and/or predominantly developed after the acquisition should simply be identified as Silicon Labs. When ambiguous, then how the chip’s developers identified its heritage should guide the choice of attribution. PolychromePlatypus (talk) 19:46, 30 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Discontinued Modules[edit]

There is usually greater wisdom in leaving information about things no longer made in the encyclopedia. This avoids the need to rediscover the evolution of things and to recover the history of the development of them. One exception might be products that were announced and never produced or only produced in sample quantities by a vendor that simply abandoned the market segment and even then only when the product was a technological cul-de-sac that had no effect on later products; for example the design wasn’t ground breaking IT sold off to another company, the designers didn’t migrate to another company and produce the next version somewhere else, and so on. IP modules[edit]
