Can someone explain to me why we need 15 footnotes to cite "this is a commercial for Folgers"? Thanks. -R. fiend (talk) 23:32, 16 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
A couple of responses:
1) This was my first published article and I was unaware of the guideline against excessive citations until post-publication. I am planning to merge citations soon.
2) The citations for the first sentence are not simply to verify that it was a commercial for Folgers. They are also to verify a) that it came it out in 2009, b) the official name of the commercial, and c) common unofficial names of the commercial.

ROADKILL While having multiple refs is good, it's a good idea to use them a bit more sparingly than what's happened here. Generally it should be one citation per statement, maybe two or three depending on the source, but having 14 sources all to confirm a single statement is excessive and overwhelming (I removed the KYM source as it's considered unreliable). So there's four things being verified here: Folgers, the date, the official name, and the unofficial names. I just took a look at the Gawker source, and it confirms 2 of the 4 things being verified, that it was a Folger's advert in 2009, while the AVClub source confirms one of the unofficial names. The other issue is that every source is referenced multiple times, which is excessive. It's perfectly fine to just use a single source once CiphriusKane (talk) 00:42, 20 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
