Globalise and (USA)[edit]

Apparently this is about a recent USA law. So I have removed the {{Globalise}} template, as this is not global, but US specific. I kept the {{Context}} tag, precisely because this looks like about a US law but is not clear about it. I also reverted a page name change to College cost calculator (USA), because the title is not ambiguous. Adding (USA) to the title does not - in the current state of the article - solve the possible globalisation problems; to 'solve' it, I suggest clarifying that this is about a USA law - or adding information about other nations, but it does not look like the case here. - Nabla (talk) 12:46, 2 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe, but I presume this article is meant to be about «A [US] federal law kicks in Oct. 29 that requires all college websites to have an online tool called a net price calculator» (my bold, from the article's first reference). And I doubt that exists in so many countries. Anyway, I'd say once context gets clear - which it is not - then we'll understand if it needs globalising or not - Nabla (talk) 14:29, 2 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No source supports title[edit]

None of the three references actually uses the phrase "College cost calculator" (though it's in the URL of one of them). Is the phrase actually used? That was one reason I redirected this article: lack of any evidence that it is a valid title. PamD 18:54, 3 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Searching a bit more, it looks like this is a (small?) part of Higher Education Opportunity Act of 2008 and already mentioned in that article (atually in Higher Education Act of 1965#2008 reauthorization, the 2008 Act redirects to 1965 Act's article), mentioned as «net price calculators». There is also a section about this elsewhere, at Student financial aid in the United States#College cost net price calculators. Not sure if this should redirect to one of those, or if it should be split out of them... it's not notable. It's just a tool on a website. This should probably just be a line or two in something about the cost of tuition in the United States.Flyte35 (talk) 03:03, 19 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Disagree. I worked on College admissions in the United States. College cost calculators are a new tool (last year or so), required by an act of legislation, which might have an important impact on how colleges price themselves. There is not much standardization among colleges, and confusion by parents and students about how to use it. Many issues here, including accuracy, input variables. As more people use them, there will be more coverage and accounts in newspapers about issues regarding them..--Tomwsulcer (talk) 17:53, 19 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]
