General Cleanup[edit]

The sections in this article at current do not seem to be sufficient as the text in the sections tends to trail off into speculation and other topics not within the scope of the header (or if you believe it is then the header is too broad). Right now it's very much a wall of text and subsequently quite difficult to read GTMusashi 23:05, 27 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speculation?[edit]

Currently alot of this article seems to deal with the location of the site and/or speculation on the origins of Etruscan society, thus it wanders quite far from the article's scope and into areas more suited for discussion boards or similar places, i personally find it very interesting, but it's not very encyclopedic and is confusing in that context, unfortunately my knowledge of the topic is not sufficient for me to fix it myself. I have tagged a few dubious assertions with a need for citations (since this article also lacks citations) and will do my best to try to help out. I don't mean to offend anyone as I think the article does in fact have alot of useful information, it just needs some organization and sources. GTMusashi 23:05, 27 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong location relative to Alps.[edit]

The site, located in north central Italy on the west side of the Alps.

This doesn't make any sense. If any thing it is south of the Alps. Maybe it was meant to say west of the Apennines.

Ambiguity - The two Clusiums (Clusii?)[edit]

The article says of the Clusium involved in the Roman-Etruscan wars:

"The Roman city remodeled an earlier Etruscan city ..."

It's not clear what the term "remodeled" means in this context. Remodeled, besides meaning the making of a model again, can mean to "renew, renovate, re-create, repair" or "to change or alter the structure, style, or form of (something)." In the context of a city, remodeled as a synonym for re-created would make the most sense. However, to say the earlier Clusium was re-created in the newer city involves a conscious attempt to make the later one similar to the earlier one in either physical structure, or political structure, or both. It's possible this is what is intended, but I doubt it. Did the people from the earlier Clusium actually move to a new site or did some later culture decide to make their city like the old one?

Perhaps a less formal re-copying is intended. If so, the phrase "modeled after" would be more appropriate. Alternatively, perhaps what is meant is simply that it is named after that city. Anyone know this history? Ileanadu (talk) 14:33, 22 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
