Untitled[edit]

As this is a disambiguation page, it should not contain substantive content. I have therefore reverted a recent edit, which seemd to me to add nothing encyclopaedic to the subject. Peterkingiron 15:22, 31 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Liar?[edit]

I am seeing more and more references to "Clothier" to "Coventry clothier" in the meaning of a a liar. What is the origin of this association? Do we have an article on it? -- Petri Krohn (talk) 16:04, 21 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Answering my own question: Clothier is a reference to whole cloth, the fictitious material from which complete fabrications, lies with no basis in truth, are made.
Coventry seem to be a reference to a gentleman from the town, a tailor by profession and internationally renown as a master of spin and fabrication. -- Petri Krohn (talk) 16:00, 13 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]
