Long list[edit]

The list of famous micromagicians is quite long and unwieldy. Perhaps it'd be better to make it a category, instead? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Metahacker (talkcontribs) 23:10, 12 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

"Palming" Image Isn't[edit]

The caption for the image says "palming a card", but the illustration is not an example of palming. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 164.107.124.156 (talk) 17:59, 13 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Categories[edit]

I didn't add these, but at least some of them could apply. Category:Card magic Category:Card tricks Category:Circus skills Category:Physical activity and dexterity toys Category:Sleight of hand I leave it to the experts. 7&6=thirteen () 13:32, 2 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

wait what?[edit]

"Micromentalism is mentalism performed in an intimate session. Inevitably, this form of mentalism involves examples of telekinesis, ESP, precognition and telepathy." Doesn't that sound like its saying ESP and so on are real things that people can do? 207.161.213.187 (talk) 03:05, 29 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Neologism (WP:MV ?)[edit]

I had never seen "micromagic" before coming to Wikipedia.

  • None of the sorces currently cited seem to use it, preferring "card magic" or "table magic" instead.
  • In a spot check on those listed here as Famous Micromagicians, I found their full WP articles used "magician" or "mentalist" rather than "micromagician" or "micromentalist".
  • The Magic and Illusion template uses "close-up magic" which is the term I have seen most often.

Therefore, what secondary sources support the choice of "micromagic" as the most common term rather than a neologism? 97.81.85.158 (talk) 18:30, 25 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

MicromagicClose-up magicWP:COMMONNAME. The term "Close-up magic" is widely used (including in Template:Magic and illusion) both on and off WP. Even FISM, which uses the term "micromagic" appears to treat it as a subset of close-up. ~Hydronium~Hydroxide~(Talk)~ 09:39, 13 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Will flag this at the Wikiproject. ~Hydronium~Hydroxide~(Talk)~ 09:39, 13 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support - very uncommon way to describe this. -- Netoholic @ 11:28, 13 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support - If there's a problem with "Close-up magic", "Table Magic" would also be fine, but "micromagic" is a pretty uncommon term. ApLundell (talk) 17:20, 13 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
