Untitled[edit]

It is my understanding (as a resident of Clontarf) that The Crescent, mentioned with regards Bram Stoker, is infact in Clontarf, not Fairview. I don't want to edit it however as I am not entirely certain. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.16.72.140 (talk) 23:08, 2 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Long after, just to close this, this is true - Clontarf has a split at one end, with a section which includes the crescent of houses on which the Bram Stoker house stands. SeoR (talk) 20:25, 13 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Brigades in Organisations[edit]

Vikings[edit]

Were the Vikings who fought Brian Boru invaders as the article states or Norsemen based in Dublin? I have always believed the latter to have been the case.jeanne (talk) 06:58, 5 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Religion[edit]

An anonymous editor added this text on 1 November 2015: ″There are three Catholic churches St annes church located in the park it used to be a stable and then they changed it in1945 it is covered in beautiful ivy and is only open in November and December.......″ It is correct in that there are three Catholic churches in Clontarf: St. John's, St. Anthony's, and St Gabriel's. St. Gabriel's is the parish church of Dollymont, which is a locality within Clontarf. The rest of the text seems to be confused about St. Anne's Park, and in any case is excessively detailed for this article. I am correcting the earlier reference from two churches to three and removing the text added by user 79.97.210.85 98.248.37.30 (talk) 02:45, 10 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This was sorted long since, it seems - there were two RC churches on the coast, and Dollymount inland; there was never one in the main body of St Anne's Park, but technically Raheny's All Saints Church was on St Anne's Estate land, albeit severed from the estate long since. Population[edit]

I will remove the population figure for now, as it definitely is not a summing of all EDs with Clontarf in the name, but maybe we can do some calculation and come up with a number. If we look at the areas recorded by the CSO, we can classify:

Clontarf East D (2,859) and Clontarf East C (3,189) - core areas of Clontarf
Clontarf East B (7,204) - part of core Clontarf + the locality of Dollymount
Clontarf East A (3,626) - largely Raheny, but with some Clontarf houses
Clontarf West C (4,130) - a mix of Clontarf and some parts of Fairview
Clontarf West D (2,530) - Fairview
Clontarf West E (2,483) - at least partly Marino
Clontarf West B (2,395) - much of Donnycarney
Clontarf West A (3,758) - much of Killester
