Roman mythology?[edit]

I see nothing in this article to suggest mythology - maybe it should be renamed? Simon Burchell (talk) 23:19, 1 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I don't have a solid answer for this, but I have the article on my watchlist because it's so oddly phrased and needs to be rewritten. I think (but haven't yet taken time to learn) that she falls in the category of "legendary"; see Roman mythology for why it's particularly difficult to separate "Roman mythology" from "Roman legend." Roman myths tend to be political and moral; Romans tended to mythologize their early history. I'd just leave it for now, unless somebody wants to do a better job of researching the topic. Well, when I looked at this to assess it for WP Mythology, it read as a historical biography - I must admit I know nothing of the subject and there isn't much to place it in context - but there is no mention of any kind of mythological subject within the article - the person is presented as a historic personage, there are no claims of being fathered by a deity or anything else that would place this article within the realm of mythology rather than history. As I said, this probably has to do with the difficulty of distinguishing legend, myth, and history in Roman tradition. Cynwolfe (talk) 14:25, 2 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]
