Advantages[edit]

The article is lacking on the advantages clap skates have over regular skates. (Now explained)

"Clap skates were developed at the Faculty of Human Movement Sciences of the Vrije Universiteit of Amsterdam, led by Gerrit Jan van Ingen Schenau, although the idea of a clap skate is much older;"

The phrase 'much older' is not helpful here because no date is given for when these skates were developed at the Faculty of Human Movement Sciences. Anyone know what this date is?

Clap or Clamp[edit]

I'm wondering about the photo of clap skates from the '30's. They look like typical clamp-on skates, and I see no pivoting mechanism. It's possible the heel lifts up somewhat but I don't see it. There is a metal loop on the back which looks like a strap should go through it and around the ankle.Flight Risk (talk) 02:57, 8 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
