Harvard on the Hill[edit]

I've been a student there for several years and I've never heard that nickname. I have seen it called "University of Beavercreek".

In the last year especially, I've heard CCC called "Harvard on the Hill" many times both on campus and off. I've never heard the phrase "University of Beavercreek". Likewise, I've never heard the "Harvard on the Hill" nickname applied to Mount Hood CC, but I'll grant that I know very little of that college. --Adam the Alien 20:07, 8 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I was the one who originally added the "Harvard on the Hill" bit. I heard it often during my tenure at CCC, though I imagine that that nickname is common among institutions of higher learning which happen to have been built on high ground. As a nickname it doesn't count for much, since it's only relevant if one happens to be looking for a clever synonym for the campus when speaking to a fellow Clackamas County resident. I only added it because at the time the article was a stub of the worst variety and I wanted to contribute something that showed that the college wasn't just a vague collection of demographic data, but actually had SOME impact on the surrounding community, even if it was only to inspire an unoriginal nickname. -- E-squared

Clean up[edit]

Does the fact that the campus is a transportation hub need to be mentioned in the first paragraph? Surely that's not the most notable thing about the college? The bit about campus safety, though notable, probably doesn't need to be at the top either. I think the intro should be written in a more general way, perhaps mention the college's most prominent programs, enrollment, scope (where does it draw its students from?), etc. What would make the college notable to someone not from the area? I'm also not sure precise location information for each of the campuses is particularly encyclopedic. This article is looking good, with some help we could probably bump it up a class. What about Linus Pauling?[edit]

Legend has it that Oregon's sole Nobel laureate helped found this college. Is this true, or did he only attend the opening ceremony for the buildings that bear his name?
