Lewisohn Stadium and other article improvements

@Iss246: While the Lewisohn Stadium was an important meeting place, it is still a demolished building. I don't know why it gets a separate section between the "North Campus" and "South Campus" sections, which are still operational. That's why it still has its own section, but now under a "Demolished buildings" subheader.

The reason why Lewisohn Stadium had gotten a separate section is that the stadium was a beloved landmark. For the College. And for New York City. It was the site of many fine concerts that were either free or cost 25 cents. The Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo danced there. Many people think its destruction was an act of vandalism, almost as much as the the destruction of the original Penn Station. Like Penn Station, Lewisohn Stadium was replaced by--and I will be kind--an undistinguished building.Iss246 (talk) 16:48, 20 July 2019 (UTC)

Also, to anyone else who is interested, I rearranged some paragraphs so each building now has its own one or two paragraphs, and the narrative doesn't bounce around as much. Since this is a description of the campus, and there is already a history section above, it doesn't necessarily have to be a linear timeline. epicgenius (talk) 13:10, 10 July 2019 (UTC)

Quick note - I noticed you moved down the photo of Shepards Hall to the demolished section, and that seems a bit confusing since Shepards Hall hasn't been demolished. Could we put that back where it was (or maybe just remove it since there's another pic of Shepards hall anyway)? Epicsunwarrior (talk) 13:51, 10 July 2019 (UTC)
Epicsunwarrior, thanks for the catch. I moved down the wrong image, I have fixed that now. epicgenius (talk) 16:06, 10 July 2019 (UTC)

Gray

The color boxes in the infobox are referenced to

"College Colors" (PDF). The City College of New York Style and Brand Guidelines. July 17, 2018. p. 4. Retrieved October 15, 2019.

On the cited page, Primary Colors (meaning the basic colors of the College, not the subtractive primary colors red, yellow, blue used in paint or printing, or the additive optical primaries red, blue, green) specifies the College's gray as

PMS 425C
C38 M28 Y21 K63
R86 G90 B92
HTML 565A5C

On the page, as viewed on screen, that looks black. Next to that, Primary Colors for uncoated paper says simply

65% BLACK

which appears as a darkish gray on screen. I have changed the color box for gray to #999999  , matching the gray background of the College logo at the bottom of the infobox. Maybe it should be #777777  , but #999999 looked to me like a better match. I wasn't able to test the code for the logo's gray.

Please {{Ping}} me to discuss. --Thnidu (talk) 20:30, 15 October 2019 (UTC)

In media

I had added the following line to the In media section. "* At about an hour into West Side Story (2021 film), in a breakfast scene, Maria tells her brother Bernardo that she would like to go to City College." An editor deleted it, claiming it was trivia. I don't think the edit represents something that is trivial. In fact, in the 1950s, during which the movie is set, a Latina wanting to attend City College would be important. I would like to know what other editors think about the addition and if it should be restored. Iss246 (talk) 21:01, 25 March 2022 (UTC)
