This article fails to meet the basic guidelines for notability. As far as I know Cillian Willis is a reserve player for Leinster, that is all. Secondly, there are insufficient sources here.AleXd (talk) 18:12, 29 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

He's a professional rugby player and a member of the squad. To delete this entry would affect the accuracy of the article on Leinster rugby. Any problems with the article are due to lack of attention more than with notability. He's listed as a member of the senior squad and is a young and up-coming player. At last count he has 12 caps for Leinster. Ronank (talk) 23:47, 18 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bizarre that a number of rugby union and rugby league players are being attacked for only playing a handful of games, whilst soccer players who are years away from first team action are safe from notability issues. CorleoneSerpicoMontana (talk) 00:29, 19 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Inconsistency in the application of guidelines across different sports does not nullify them.AleXd (talk) 18:18, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The guidelines (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Notability_%28people%29#Athletes) state the following for athletes: Athletes

   * Competitors and coaches who have competed in a fully professional league, or a competition of equivalent standing in a non-league sport such as swimming, golf or tennis.
   * Competitors and coaches who have competed at the highest level in amateur sports (who meet the general criteria of secondary sources published about them).8

Willis has 12 caps. In rugby this is a large number and clearly qualifies Willis as notable, given that this is a fully professional league. The guidelines, thus, are clear and ALL professional rugby players can be considered notable. Ronank (talk) 19:52, 20 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
