Churches in Portugal[edit]

Hi Julie, I have been following the wonderful development of this interesting and beautiful article about the Church of Saint Ildefonso. Churches, chapels and temples fall within the scope of Zwinglio's mission. I also noticed that you removed the category link [Category:Churches in Portugal]. I think this link should go there. If you agree so, I would like to place it back myself. Would you agree to it? Zwinglio\pray 18:34, 23 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The reason I removed that category is because I had replaced it with the category "Churches in Porto". Churches in Porto is already a subcategory of Churches in Portugal. There is no need for the article to be placed within both; and generally speaking, the more specific the category, the better. See Wikipedia:Categorization#Categorizing pages. Hope that helps, Maedin\talk 18:50, 23 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much for your kind explanation and tutorial. Again, you are doing a marvelous work! Zwinglio\pray 19:00, 23 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! This is a note to let the editors of this article know that File:Iglesia de San Ildefonso, Oporto, Portugal, 2012-05-09, DD 01.JPG will be appearing as picture of the day on June 28, 2014. You can view and edit the POTD blurb at Template:POTD/2014-06-28. If this article needs any attention or maintenance, it would be preferable if that could be done before its appearance on the Main Page. Thanks! — Crisco 1492 (talk) 01:16, 10 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Church of Saint Ildefonso
The Church of Saint Ildefonso in Porto, Portugal, is a Catholic church completed in 1739 to replace a centuries-old chapel. This octagonal church building is constructed of granite, and on its façade are 11,000 azulejo tiles installed by Jorge Colaço in 1932. The architect of the church is unknown.Photo: Diego Delso

Octagonal?[edit]

The article, and the description of the photo accompanying POTD 2014-06-28 identify this as an octagonal building. A review of satellite imagery of the aerial view of the structure, and various photos accompanying Google Maps location does not seem to support this.
