Chung KuoChung Kuo (disambiguation) – so that “Chung Kuo” can redirect to the China article, like “Chung-Kuo”, “Chungkuo”, and “Chung-kuo”. 124.244.46.123 (talk) 16:09, 18 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

This is a contested technical request (permalink). -- Dane talk 18:55, 18 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. Chung Kuo (novel series) is the WP:PRIMARYUSAGE as seen by pageviews, which also show the two redirects to China are hardly used at all. The novel series was originally at this title and was subject to an undiscussed move in 2011. If that article is not move back here, at least the dab page should remain. Otherwise we'd need a hatnote on China pointing to the novels. Station1 (talk) 19:26, 18 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Just to clarify, because it's surprisingly not straightforward to google as as search results are mostly other topics, Chung Kuo is the Chinese translation of Middle Kingdom.--Yaksar (let's chat) 02:34, 19 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Original poster: How about this:
    • 1. Move this page to “Chung Kuo (disambiguation)” (currently proposed here)
    • 2. Move “Chung Kuo (novel series)” here.
    • 3. Once the novel series page is moved here, add a hatnote on the page that points reader to both the disambiguation page and to the China article.

  • Oppose all leave as is. Chung Kuo, Cina is probably of most long term significance here. In ictu oculi (talk) 09:16, 20 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. No clear primary topic here. The novel series is probably the most notable usage. -- Necrothesp (talk) 16:19, 20 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. It might help if the article China mentioned "Chung Kuo" but it doesn't: the fact that this and similar terms redirect there is actually confusing without explanation. When this RfD closes I will be taking them to RfD. Shhhnotsoloud (talk)
    • “Chung Kuo” is the Wade-Giles transliteration of “中國” (“中国” in simplified characters), both meaning “China” or “Middle Kingdom”.
  • I will now withdraw the request, as Wikipedia:Requested moves/Closing instructions states that “a move request proposer may close their own move request as withdrawn if no one has commented yet, or if opposition is unanimous.” 124.244.46.123 (talk) 16:06, 22 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]
