Article name[edit]

The article's name does not comply with guidance for naming an article. I propose to simplify the name to Christchurch Art Gallery. The first sentence could read as follows:

The Christchurch Art Gallery, with the formal name of Christchurch Art Gallery Te Puna o Waiwhetu, is the public art gallery of the city of Christchurch, New Zealand.

I feel that the Robert McDougall Art Gallery, as an historic building, qualifies for its own page in its own right. At present one is directed to the Christchurch Art Gallery. Thoughts on creating a page for the Robert McDougall Art Gallery? Pipjohn 3:21, 12 January 2020 (UTC)

The Christchurch Art Gallery is the public art gallery of the city of Christchurch, New Zealand. Opened in 2003, it replaced the previous building, the Robert McDougall Art Gallery, which had opened 70 years earlier. Designed to withstand seismic events, the gallery's foundations rest on a concrete raft slab that lies on the surface of the ground. Nevertheless, the building sustained some damage in the 2011 Christchurch earthquake that devastated much of the city, and it subsequently served as the Civil Defence headquarters during reconstruction work.
