Why delete a page about an athlete who, in the near future, will probably be EXTREMELY notable!? There is legitimate evidence to prove that he'll be one of the best. As Rake wrote below, he beat WORLD JUNIOR mile record holder, German Fernandez, in the 5k. In the meet they were also a mere 10 seconds back from some big professional athletes as well. Athletes who have competed at the highest level of the sport. Chris Derrick will certainly be a significant name in the very near future. Nctrack09 (talk) 23:13, 4 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

He was not very notable in the past, but last Saturday he broke the American Junior Record in the 5000m, beating out German Fernandez. This is definitely a notable feat, because he broke Galen Rupp's Junior record. Both German and Galen are among the best and most promising distance runners in America. Chris Derrick is now among them. --Rake (talk) 22:44, 3 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I updated the page and made sure that all included information had a source listed. Chris Derrick shattered an American Junior record held by an Olympian. Along with German Fernandez, he is a rising star in American distance running. --Phrisbee

Derrick ran a 5k faster than Lindgren, Ritzenhein, Prefontaine, Rupp and Virgin did as juniors - all world class athletes. --Rocky717717 —Preceding undated comment added 12:16, 5 May 2009 (UTC).[reply]

Chris Derrick has the fastest high school-only 5k of all time (besting numerous Olympians and American/world record-holders in the process) and has now also beat Olympian Galen Rupp's national junior record in the 5K (and at the same time beating "notable" runner German Fernandez). Derrick is clearly an elite junior runner on the world stage, arguably as much so as Fernandez. I think it is ludicrous to suggest he's non-notable. Ronstock (talk) 14:28, 5 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Why does Hassan Mead have a full page that is not on its way to deletion? 75.5.66.255 (talk) 00:21, 6 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Even according to the athlete notability section, Derrick gains notability having competed in world championships (cross country), along with other international competitions. If someone performs a google search for Chris Derrick, why shouldn't wikipedia have any information on him? It's not like hasn't made an impact on athletics. He has an American junior record, and is already a multiple-time all american. Even if tomorrow his record is erased, he will still be in the books forever. Why should his name be stricken from wikipedia? --HINKLO (talk) —Preceding unsigned comment added by 129.21.132.52 (talk) 04:02, 6 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The PRs section needs to be fixed. Looks like someone copied the PRs table from German Fernandez' page and only changed the 5k and 8k times. Ronstock (talk) 21:30, 6 May 2009 (UTC) There is no arguing with the American Junior Record in the 5K and being a Two time All-American, he also was also on the leader board for the indoor track in the 5k. The people want this page, Wikipedia needs this page[reply]

Nice nod to Craig Virgin! He and Gerry Lindgren don't get the accolades they deserve. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 199.46.200.231 (talk) 18:16, 17 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]
