Synopsis[edit]

I've just made a significant edit to this section (including the name, which was previously "Structure and Story" or something similar). My opinion is that the chapter-by-chapter structure either needed a lot more detail to be justified, or ought to be condensed into a readable description. Specifically, I think it's better to summarize the work as a whole than summarize each individual chapter and then stick those together - and I don't mean "less detail," I just mean that the information presented should be important in the context of the book as a whole. I've tried to strike a reasonable balance. Procrustacean (talk) 03:22, 31 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Plagiarism[edit]

I just finished reading this book - a great and important work. However, this article currently devotes a large section to proving plagiarism between it and another book. The plagiarism accusations seem justified, but this use of a WP article is not. You know about Original research I take it? Also, there are many many references that should be wikified links to other articles. Someone needs to take a large axe to this article. Maybe I'll do it myself. Trimmed it down considerably, but more sources are needed for sure. BP OMowe (talk) 20:33, 10 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Difference between 1st & 2nd printings[edit]

I read the 1st printing 12 years ago, the 2nd printing last week. There seem many differences.

In the 1st, he had a bad day & used the German word weltsmertz,

this account wasn't in the 2nd

Also a lot more sex, with stories about trading a Huey for an ambulance so whores could be brought on base. More stories about hot dogging thru branches & using the tail rotor to cut a path up.

The last third of the book has many accounts that don't ring true, unlike the 1st printing.
Anyone else compare the two?
