Untitled[edit]

I shall shortly merge the contents of State of Chhattisgarh with this page. --Bhadani 11:49, 18 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Are Khariboli ("Hindi") and Chhattisgarhi co-official in Chhattisgarh? If so, this info should be added to List of languages by number of native speakers. kwami 09:45, 13 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

"Food habits and lifestyle"[edit]

I'm concerned about this subsection. At the very least, I'm not clear on how it is specific to Chhattisgarh - don't other people in nearby states share some of those activities? Also, aren't there lots of people in the state who don't live like that? In short, this section is unencyclopedic as it stands. I think it should be removed entirely, but I hope someone can fix it up, with cited sources, so I won't delete it just now. Other ideas? CDC (talk) 03:39, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've gone ahead and removed this section, for the reasons I described above. CDC (talk) 22:10, 5 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

There are glaring spelling mistakes in the article.. I saw commendeble, rapiddedly ??...

Per capita income[edit]

"The per capita income is around 250 million USD as of 2001" This can't be right. The per capita income of the U.S. is probably between $20,000 and $30,000 USD. If this is correct, I'm moving to Chhattisgarh!122.31.178.226 (talk) 09:47, 15 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

WP:INDIA Banner/chhattisgarh workgroup Addition[edit]

{{WP India}} with chhattisgarh workgroup parameters was added to this article talk page because the article falls under Category:Chhattisgarh or its subcategories. Should you feel this addition is inappropriate , please undo my changes and update/remove the relavent categories to the article -- TinuCherian (Wanna Talk?) - 11:13, 19 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ethnic Groups[edit]

It would be better to name the ethnic groups which inhabit the region. Does anyone know what they are? --Maurice45 (talk) 15:37, 16 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Does anyone feel that the Demographics section of this article needs elaboration? I ask because 10% of Chhattisgarh are Scheduled Tribes. Also because many among the Scheduled Tribes have religious beliefs and practices distinct than from any of the mainstream religions. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Munda_people#Religion_and_identity_of_the_tribes

Too Detailed Introduction[edit]

I cannot understand why introduction is so much detailed. In particular, why people are not moving much of below content on language at a suitable section below? I would like below portion of introduction

"The Chhattisgarhi language, part of the East-Central group of Indo-Aryan languages, is the predominant language in the region. It is often regarded by linguists to be a dialect of the western Hindi, which is the official language of the state. People in southern Chhattisgarh, Bastar, speak dialects of Dravidian languages. Other languages spoken in Chhattishgarh are Hindi, Oriya, Marathi and tribal languages. The officially recognised and patronised version of the dialect is spoken in the general area in the plains of Raipur and Bilaspur division that was under the direct British administration in the 19th and (the first four decades of)the 20th centuries. The dialect in the erstwhile princely-states-area has carried a flavour distinct from that that was spoken in the "Khalsa Chhattisgarh" as the British area was known as. The language in the northern Surguja State area has the influence on it of dialects of Vindya Padesh, UP and Bihar. As against Chhattisgarhi, the language over there is proudly called "Sargujia" by the people of that region. Likewise, in areas in the Eastern part that came under Raigarh, Sarangarh and Phuljhar (Saraipali) States, the language has a distinct influence of Oriya on the language."

to be reduced to a single or two sentences as below:

"The Chhattisgarhi language, a dialect of western Hindi, is the predominant and the official language of the state. In addition, many tribal and some Dravidian influenced dialects are spoken in various parts of Chhattisgarh."

By the way, I am concerned about factual accuracy of Chhattisgarhi being dialect of western Hindi instead of eastern Hindi. Rksande (talk) 20:03, 1 March 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rksande (talkcontribs) 19:59, 1 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

History and Formation[edit]

There seems to be no information about the formation of the state (the events leading up to the state seceeding from Madhya Pradesh, etc.) or the history of the region prior to that. There is no linked article either - as such the page appears to be missing a lot of information. Does anyone have any? Prasad (talk) 11:44, 26 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

bias and lack of inline reference[edit]

there seems to be a lot of bias in this article. e.g. in history: "it fulfills the long-cherished demand of the people" written by propaganda minister? the whole women section is problematic as well! from education "Chhattisgarh has given a wonderful author, motivational trainer and educationist Ujjwal Patni"... major problem with this article!

see also from aljazera http://english.aljazeera.net/indepth/opinion/2011/07/2011710144637637841.html this article has nothing on the violence from the government let alone from the maoists. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.204.73.110 (talk) 21:01, 21 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Education[edit]

>" Chhattisgarh has given a wonderful author, motivational trainer and educationist Ujjwal Patni who has written 6 Books in 12 languages on leadership, motivation and network marketing. His books are also a part of syllabus of various engineering and management colleges"

This is a plain advertisement by Ujjawal Patni.I dont know who this fellow is? Do you? I am going to remove these lines. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mohnish 07 (talkcontribs) 09:09, 22 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Contributor,

As wikipedian, we must research the subject before editing it. As per my research ujjwal Patni is an Indian author, trainer and motivational speaker from Chhattisgarh. He has made the first Guinness world record in Bhilai in Chhattisgarh. He has been awarded with Pt Sunderlal Sharma literature award by the Government of Chhattisgarh. His multiple books on personality development are available in many languages in all parts of India. Suggest you to see Ujjwal patni in wiki and refer www.ujjwalpatni.com to cross check.

Refer wiki ujjwal patni.

Dear Contributor,

As i probe in to this article, it seems that individuals are not highlighted.. so it was appropriate to remove that. However patni's credentials are notable enough to find a mention in personalities from Chhattisgarh..(if you ever create that space)

Two maps of Chhattisgarh showing its location in India[edit]

All, We have two images of map of chhattisgarh both showing it's location in India. But one of the two, has the GNU image of political map.Should we remove the redundant one or keep both? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Mohnish 07 (talkcontribs) 19:43, 22 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

January 6, 2012. The detail map needs to be updated. It is not consistent with the text (number and name of districts) and neither text nor map are consistent with cross references (the Bijapur article says it is one of only 18 districts in Chhattisgarh). Also, in the section on literacy, the numbers with all the commas are uninterpretable: if they are not typos, they need to be explained. -kderiel — Preceding unsigned comment added by 155.247.36.154 (talk) 22:52, 6 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wrong map[edit]

In the political map of Chhattisgarh, the name of the northern district of "KOREA" is wrongly written as "LOREA". Please do correct it. Additionally the map needs to be updated to current status with all the 27 districts present in it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.213.7.223 (talk) 16:22, 16 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

How come this article does not mention about it? Isn't the iron ore in Kirandul ans surrounding ares the backbone to SAIL?

Issues with development and insurgency[edit]

Much of this section appears to have been copied and pasted from an online newspaper. If this is the case, it needs to be rewritten (much more succinctly), before it is removed as a copyright violation. Skinsmoke (talk) 10:34, 20 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I removed "% Chatinaya || 0.85 || 99.59" from outside the table. If anyone knows what it means, and it makes sense, please restore inside the table if and as appropriate. Rich Farmbrough, 11:54, 18 January 2013 (UTC).[reply]

removing POV tag with no active discussion per Template:POV[edit]

I've removed an old neutrality tag from this page that appears to have no active discussion per the instructions at Template:POV:

This template is not meant to be a permanent resident on any article. Remove this template whenever:
  1. There is consensus on the talkpage or the NPOV Noticeboard that the issue has been resolved
  2. It is not clear what the neutrality issue is, and no satisfactory explanation has been given
  3. In the absence of any discussion, or if the discussion has become dormant.

Since there's no evidence of ongoing discussion, I'm removing the tag for now. If discussion is continuing and I've failed to see it, however, please feel free to restore the template and continue to address the issues. Thanks to everybody working on this one! -- Khazar2 (talk) 12:35, 17 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Copyright claim for section "Separation of Chhattisgarh"[edit]

A user came into the IRC help chat a few minutes ago claiming that the above-mentioned section was copyrighted to this website. They left before any helpers could assist them. We normally do not take on-wiki action based on requests in the IRC help chat for a variety of reasons. However, copyright claims are a special case, obviously. For the record, I investigated the claim to see if it was valid. I found that the Internet Archive shows this content appearing in Nov 2012, but the content in the article appears to be changing organically in May of 2012, and the supposed origin of the text (cgtotal.pald.in) appears to be a reverse copyvio of the content on Wikipedia. As such, I see no action to take here. Waggie (talk) 09:47, 9 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
