Question[edit]

The first known map of Ireland, made by the Greek geographer Ptolemy shows that the Chauci had colonized the eastern part of Ireland during the first or second century AD.

Is there any additional evidence supporting this? It's a five-letter name (Cauci). It could easily be pure coincidence, that an Irish tribe too was called Cauci. --::Slomox:: >< 15:43, 15 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Germania Magna[edit]

I found no mention in this article about the Chauci and their territory to be part of the Roman Empire (province of Germania Magna), for almost 20 years before Varus' defeat. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 41.239.213.145 (talk) 20:04, 27 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
