Hi there, I have a few editing suggestions - you may use them or not as you like :)

History -

"...game makes a difference between:" should be "... game differentiates between"

Generic races -

"TSR Hobbies assumed anyone buying D&D knew what Hobbits are" should be "TSR Hobbies assumed anyone buying D&D knew what Hobbits were" (perhaps, Im not surer on the how 'were' works as plural for multiple people (or multiple hobbits in this case)

there are one or two other things like this - I can list them here for you to consider, or if you prefer I can go straight in and change them?

the whole premise of this article is flawed[edit]

There are some problems with the whole premise of this article, not just the contents of it.

1. the concept of "character" implies a player or main character, whereas a hypothetical fantasy/scifi "race" could exist without an instance of a character of that "race"

2. how is "character race" substantially different from https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mythic_humanoids or "fictional species" as per https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lists_of_fictional_species (or more specifically https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Lists_of_fictional_humanoid_species)?

  • one could argue that the intent of this article is more along the lines of "fictional (humanoid) species" than "character race"

3. the article starts off saying it applies to both "fantasy and science fiction", but proceeds to primarily only discuss D&D and JRR Tolkien as sources, so really this is just about fantasy race

This article is either too broad or not broad enough. Slauhale (talk) 19:51, 1 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
