Categorization as Legendary Creature[edit]

Please note that Wikipedia currently categorizes mythical creatures in that category; see Banshee, Lernaean Hydra, Echo (mythology), Kappa (mythical creature), the definition in Legendary creature, and the category talk: Category talk:Legendary creatures.

If you believe that is incorrect or misleading, please use the category talk. --Glimz 13:28, August 6, 2005 (UTC)

The category states "This category concerns legendary creatures: creatures that are or have been believed to be real".

The ceryneian hind is a myth, it was never considered to be real. ~~~~ ( ! | ? | * ) 14:01, 6 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Please do have a look at the examples and references I provided. Mythical creatures are categorized in this category for now. Quoting Legendary creature:
A legendary creature can also be a mythical or fantastic creature (emphasis mine)
The other examples I gave and the contents of the category itself clearly indicate that mythical creatures are categorized in Category:Legendary creatures. Re your edit summary, "The category states 'This category concerns legendary creatures: creatures that are or have been believed to be real'": Whether the ancient greeks actually believed that the hind existed, I do not know. If you do, and believe the category heading is misleading, feel free to correct it. If you think that all those other articles are incorrectly categorized and a new category should be added (or the existing one renamed), please say so on the talk page. If you mean that all is well as it is (and I just cannot grasp it:-), it might be worthwhile to provide a more detailed explanation in the category (or its talk page). Cheers, --Glimz 15:09, August 6, 2005 (UTC)

I'll go ahead and recat it again as you didn't oppose? The alternative category would be Category:Fictional species ("For creatures that are wholly fictional creations, see Category:Fictional species") which is not the right place, IMO. Glimz 08:00, August 7, 2005 (UTC)

Perfectly false statement[edit]

Second para in section Constellation:

The constellation Hercules, is the constellation Sagitta, the arrow, the owner of which varies...

Nope! The constellation Hercules is most definitely not the constellation Sagitta. I presume the sentence originally said something true, then was edited to become something erroneous. Something is missing in the sentence, maybe "near" between the second "is" and the second "the". Said: Rursus () 22:32, 22 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Over two years later and this problem still exists. Does anybody know what this sentence is trying to say? The whole paragraph is awkwardly done, with all of its parenthetical clauses making it hard to read. --Khajidha (talk) 18:13, 14 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
