Why centre not center?

Given that L. Ron and Scientology are American, does anyone know why they use Centre and not Center? Thanks, Prolinol (talk) 14:58, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

Series Template

Removing this Series Template from across the Scientology related pages. This is not correct usage of Series Templates per the guidelines. They were set up to show the history of countries and were different articles form a sequential series. This is not the case with the Scientology pages, which are random pages on different topics – not a sequence of any kind. Wiki’s definition of a series is: “In a general sense, a series is a related set of things that occur one after the other (in a succession) or are otherwise connected one after the other (in a sequence).” Nuview, 15:25, 10 January 2006 (PST)

Bias in the Article

I'm going to quote the article to point out an example of it's Anti-Scientology bias.

Critics of Scientology point to the fact that Hubbard launched "Project Celebrity" in 1955 to recruit celebrities into the cult and say that the centres were established for this purpose, because celebrity members give Scientology the publicity it needs to recruit more members.

While blankedly labeling the CoS as a cult is PV rather than NPOV, the truth of the matter is, that is what Hubbard was intending anyway. The word "cult" could be removed, in the interest of fairness and neutrality it should be removed, however it IS true that Hubbard was crazy about celebs for PR purposes. But then many organizations are like that, so to take such great offense is quite silly. Link [2] points to [1] and apparently does so because the information just preceeding it is contained on the webpage. However, the webpage is the personal property of one Kristi Wachter Kristi . Kristi's personal opinion would be appropriate as an exterior link, but since a personal website does not satisfy WP:V which requires, "previously published by reputable and reliable sources", and because WP:RS specifically denies that personal websites can be used as secondary sources of information in Wikipedia articles. That citation should be removed to an "exterior links" section and the quoted text removed from the article. Terryeo 19:54, 19 June 2006 (UTC)

Merge proposal

Currently the Celebrity (magazine) has long term notability and reference problems. I don't really see what's there as supporting an article, but it could be moved in as a paragraph in this article. Anyone have any objections? AndroidCat (talk) 00:21, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Well I do not think we should be moving in unsourced WP:OR material into another article, without first sourcing that material to secondary WP:RS/WP:V sources. Cirt (talk) 02:23, 10 June 2008 (UTC)

Violent Incident

moved the text over here. The story urgently needs some copyediting. Also it is "news" and changing daily right now, and might not be notable. There is a parallel discussion about that on Scientology. This section could be re-added once the news is over and notability of the event established. On November 23rd 2008 Mario Majorski a man who had previous dealings with the Church of Scientology was shot dead by the Celebrity Centre's Security guards while wielding samurai swords and attempting to injure the centre's gauards. Majorski was pronounced dead at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center shortly after. "Hundreds of people were eating brunch or doing other activities at the time" said Scientology spokesman Tom Davis. Majorski was a Scientologist in the early 1990's however left according to the Tom Davis fifteen years prior to the Incident. Majorsk in 1993 with another man sued a psychiatry professor from the University of California for criticizing the Church of Scientology because of discrimination, however the case was weak and hence fore dropped. This Incident was not the only unusual behavior in Majorski. On November 2nd 2008 Majorski disrupted a Mormon service by swearing and "moving around a lot", Majorski was arrested for disorderly conduct and trespassing. Majorski was also arrested for "unlawful use of a weapon when Less than a month before his death when was arrested for swinging an ax at an Auto Club employee who was bringing him gas for his car. Majorski had threatened the Church several times in 2005 these threats were reported to the FBI and local authorities. Majorski's Motives are yet to be known however he did file for Bankruptcy in 2000. Majorski is being viewed as having previous "mental Issues" as shortly after the Incident. Police are so far regarding the guard's actions as Justifiable, Although the Security guard who shot Majorski has been Detained .

Well I copyedited it, but this article is kinda WP:COATRACK when there should be a bio on Mario Majorski. Since the guy is an hero, BLP won't apply. Are you ready for IPv6? (talk) 08:08, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

I agree, coatrack, pure and simple. The article goes on more about Majorski than it does about Celebrity Centers. As for the latter, reliable sources can probably be found here if anyone feels like doing a bit of research. Jayen466 11:28, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

Renaissance restaurant

I have proposed that Renaissance (restaurant) be merged into this article as it doesn't appear to warrant an article on it's own. While I am at it, I think this article should either a) be devoted to The Manor Hotel/Chateau Elysée expanding on its history, or b) move to "Celebrity Centres" with a new article about The Manor Hotel/Chateau Elysée. I oppose merging Renaissance to Celebrity Centre. However, I think you are on the right track- move this article to Celebrity Centres (since that's what it's about) and move Renaissance to Chateau Elysee/Manor Hotel to cover that whole topic. tedder (talk) 17:07, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
